History
The 1776 expedition from Mexico led
by Spaniard Don Juan Baptista
de Anza led to the naming of the town.

De Anza left people in Monterey to
rest & took Padre Font & 18 men
to Santa Clara Valley.

On Mar. 25, 1776, the Feast day of
St. Joseph de Copertino,
christened the creek "Arroyo
San Guiseppe da Cupertino".

Cupertino sprang up at Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road (DeAnza Blvd.
& Stevens Creek Blvd.) First knownCity Hall as West Side, by 1904,
the Post Office
used the name for the crossroads.

Cupertino officially
became Santa Clara
County
's 13th City
on October 10, 1955.
